Langtang Valley Trek is also known by the name “The valley of Glacier Trek” and is one of the most popular and closest trekking regions in Nepal from Kathmandu valley. The valley is inhabited by the Tamang who still now practices the Tibetan culture.

This allows you to access the massive mountains along with the beautiful glacier and the snow-capped region. This place is situated around nineteen miles north of Kathmandu in the middle of the Great Himalayan range on the Tibetan border and is within easy access, and the valley is dominated by Mt. Langtang Lirung which offers a spectacular path of the pine forest and the rugged rocks. The Langtang Valley Trek starts with just eight hours drive from Kathmandu to the Syabrubesi. If you head towards the Langtang Valley then you will come across the floras and faunas that are still conserved by the Langtang national park, the oldest national park in Nepal. The valley is inhabited by the Tamang who still now practices the Tibetan culture. we will be welcome by their hospitality, their friendly nature, and also their unique culture. It is also home to Himalayan honeyguide, mountain pheasant, musk deer, and snow leopard.

It is one of the diversified treks which are very close to Kathmandu. The trail takes us to an altitude of 4,000 meters, and if we want to go higher, we would not want to miss seeing the sunrise from the Tserko Ri at 5,000m.  This region also gives a total view of the astonishing mountains along with the people and their lifestyle of the place which is normally accompanied by the bamboo forest, rhododendron, and the huge waterfalls. This diverse trek introduces you to the Buddhist culture of the Tamangs and the Sherpas, and the ancient monastery of Kyanjin Gompa, situated near Tserko upholds this tradition, where we can spend our time seeing the ancient Buddhist monasteries.The spectacular views on this trek include Dorje Lakpa (6,990m), Langtang Ri (6,370m) and Langtang Lirung (7,245m).

Itinerary

On an arrival at the international airport you will be picked up and then transfer to the hotel. Check in the hotel and stay overnight.

Breakfast

We leave Kathmandu in the morning for Syabrubesi, a village that is also the starting point for treks towards the Langtang valley. Our journey will be on a winding road through frequent switchbacks. On a clear day we get to experience an outstanding views of Mt. Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh Himal. Our trek ends for today with a descent into the small village of Syabrubesi, and overnight there.

After breakfast, we begin our trek to Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. We ascend and descend simultaneously through oak and rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola (small river), we ascend on a steep trail which will lead us to the Lama Hotel, beautiful place, where we stay overnight.

We continue ascending from Lama Hotel enjoying the mountain landscape with abundant waterfalls. As we reach the green meadows of Ghoda Tabela, we begin to see the white peaks of the Langtang range. Our trail continues to climb up the widening valley, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders. We pass a Buddhist monastery before reaching the Langtang village which was affected by the April 2015 earthquake. We continue on our trail to Mundu. Overnight in Mundu.

After breakfast, we will start our journey to Kyangjin Gompa, a principal monastery of the region. We pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. We also pass by the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. After the short trek, we spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding areas with the amazing views of the mountains.

We begin our trek after breakfast and retrace our steps to Lama Hotel. Most of the trekking today will be downhill as we pass through forests and beautiful Tamang villages. We also get to enjoy different view of the Himalayas that we had missed climbing up. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

After breakfast this morning, we will start our trek back to Syabrubesi through the same way we left, descending through the pine forest to pass Bamboo, and then we will stroll into Syabrubesi with the satisfaction of having completed the whole Langtang valley trek. Overnight in Syabrubesi.

We will enjoy our tasty breakfast this morning before departing from the Langtang Valley by road. We will then follow the same scenic route we used about one week ago, recalling the bends and curves of the Bhote Koshi River as it flows past idyllic rural villages and expansive fields of cultivation on the way back to Kathmandu.
